In 2010, Dr. Sharon Moalem founded Recognyz System Technology and since then has served as Chief Executive Officer, and Director of Research and Development. Based in New York City, Recognyz is a biotechnology company that creates diagnostic and treatment aids for genetic disorders. In his position, Dr. Moalem develops patented technology for orphan diseases, rare conditions that have been largely overlooked by the medical industry, but that may affect as many as 25 million Americans.
Prior to his achievements with Recognyz System Technology, Dr. Sharon Moalem co-founded Sideromics. As Director of Research and Development, Dr. Moalem developed a new class of antimicrobial and antibiotic compounds for use against superbugs. Additionally, he became the youngest Associate Editor ever at the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease. Prior to entering the medical research field, Dr. Sharon Moalem functioned as an Aid Worker with the Population and Community Development Agency in Bangkok. In this role, he devised an HIV prevention program for the city's red light district.
In addition to these accomplishments, Dr. Sharon Moalem is also a New York Times bestselling author. His books include Survival of the Sickest and How Sex Works: Why We Look, Smell, Taste, Feel, and Act the Way We Do. The latter piece received coverage in O magazine, and Dr. Moalem has appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the Today Show, and other programs to discuss his work.
